New Hanover Regional Medical Center
The Emory N. Grubbs Chapel
The Emory N. Grubbs Chapel is located on the first floor of New Hanover Regional Medical Center near the visitor elevator and next to the Spiritual Care Department's office. The chapel is open 24 hours a day for staff, patients and families. It is an interfaith chapel, designed for use by people of any religion/faith group. A Bible, Qur'an and Islamic Prayer Rug are in the Chapel. A Prayer Box is there for anyone who wants to leave a prayer request for a chaplain.
The chapel is named after the first president of what was then New Hanover Memorial Hospital. It is a place of spiritual refuge for patients and families who suffer from the stresses associated with the crisis of hospitalization. The beauty and warmth of this chapel is enhanced by the magnificent round stained glass window designed and built by Rowan LeCompte and funded by the Medical Center Auxiliary. Mr. LeCompte is best known for his 45 stained glass windows in the Washington Cathedral.
The chaplains meet Monday-Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the Grubbs Chapel for a brief devotion and prayer. All are welcome.
NHRMC Rehabilitation Hospital
The Z. Franklin Pritchett Chapel is located on the first floor of NHRMC Rehabilitation Hospital near the Information desk. The chapel is named after the first chief financial officer of New Hanover Memorial Hospital. It is open 24 hours a day for staff, patients and families. The chapel is an interfaith chapel, designed for use by people of any religion/faith group.
An informal interfaith service is held every Sunday on the second floor of the NHRMC Rehabilitation Hospital. It is open to all patients, families and staff. It runs from 11:00-11:30 a.m.
Cape Fear Hospital
The Cape Fear Memorial Chapel is located on the first floor of Cape Fear Hospital down the hall from the Intensive Care Unit. It is open 24 hours a day for staff, patients and families. The chapel is an interfaith chapel, designed for use by people of any religion/faith group. A Bible, Qur'an and Islamic Prayer Rug are in the chapel.
Use of the Chapels
