Advanced Technology
High-quality orthopedics programs are those in which the staff stays abreast of the latest techniques and procedures in their field. Orthopedic physicians and staff at NHRMC are frequently involved in research studies to identify the procedures and technology that would most benefit patients. Together they study the options and make recommendations for investing in the materials and techniques that could help patients have better outcomes and shorter recovery times.
Ongoing investments in surgical materials and advanced training and techniques at NHRMC mean patients have access to sophisticated minimally invasive surgical procedures and materials that can be better tailored to their specific circumstances. As a result, they can often have less discomfort, recover faster and get back to their daily lives and the activities they enjoy.
Improved Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
As part of our ongoing committment to patient safety and comfort, NHRMC is renovating patient bed areas to improve your experience during your stay. A completely renovated and expanded Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Cape Fear Hospital provides surgical patients a more comfortable and technologically advanced area to recuperate following their procedures. This new area offers separate patient and clerical areas so that patients can recover in a quieter environment. New wireless monitors and phones allow for constant monitoring and better staff communication.
Advanced Pain Management Techniques
All surgery comes with some level of discomfort or pain. At NHRMC, we understand that each patient experiences pain differently. That's why we are committed to using the most advanced pain management techniques to assure that our patients remain as comfortable as possible, so they can focus on healing and accomplishing rehabilitation goals. Using some of the latest technology for pain relief, including ultrasound guided nerve blocks and continuous nerve blocks, board-certified anesthesiologists are able to keep you comfortable and relaxed during your surgery. These new techniques are more accurate and consistent, safer and can improve outcomes. Our pain protocol, using medications set up by your doctors for pain management following surgery, allow for appropriate pain relief while allowing flexibility to tailor the medication for your individual needs.
