Cooke: The new port-a-power has been placed on the unit in the rear drivers compartment please take the time to become accustom to the equipment.

Ayers: Has submitted the needs list for the triage kits, and is awaiting approval. Fields stated that she has approved for the items to be ordered.

Cooke: Annual physicals are due for all SOP staff by February 28, 2005.

Cooke: SOP's that have not completed their Rescue Tech training needs to actively pursue this. You are required to obtain this to maintain your position. All training needs to be forwarded to Lieutenant Howard.

Edwards: Updated on EMS 401, and stated that there are currently gallons of water inside the bay door of EMS 44 that need to be placed on the unit before it leaves the station for a call.

Cooke: There is a need for a high idle on 401; the warning lights drain the electrical system when the truck is at idle speed for an extended.

Cooke: SMAT meds have been placed on the trailer. We will need to sign-out the Valium from the on duty OPS supervisor for a deployment. The following is a recap of the issued drugs: Atropine 0.4 mg/ml - 150 vials, Tetracaine HCL 0.5% - 24 vials, Valium 10 mg prefilled - 50 prefilled syringes, AtroPen 0.5 mg - 60 pens, AtroPen 1 mg - 60 pens, Mark 1 kits - 270 kits, Mark 1 Trainers kits - 5 kits, and AtroPen Trainers kits - 5 pens.

Cooke: The dually needs a fuel card that can work out of county.

Cooke: The new multi-frequency radio is on the trailer now and will be reviewed at the next meeting.

Cooke: (1) The CFCC website is up and running for SMAT members. If you have not been able to log on please let Randy Lanier know and he will handle it, as he is made aware. (2) Also, you need to fill out a college registration form and submit it to the college. Your OPS supervisor should have these. (3) Lieutenant Howard has posted the training calendar for the first half of the year and you should be completing the assigned modules as they come due. Turn in your completed training to Lt. Howard so he can place it in your training file.

Cooke: There is now a charging station for the PAPR batteries mounted in the trailer. The batteries should be charged for 16 hours after the battery has been discharged completely.

Cooke: There will be a static display of the SMAT III system on the 24th of this month at the Battleship along with Brunswick, Pender, Onslow SMAT-III's and SERAC SMAT-II for the state and federal agencies. Time will be from 0900 to 1300Hrs

Cooke: Jail command for any MCI incidents should be located at the command/control center for the jail. It has also been determined that the radios ability to transmit will be limited and you will need to rely on your cellular phone as needed.

Fields/Cooke: Spoke about the boarding of boats for rescue operations. There is currently no policy concerning the response of EMS via watercraft. Please use your best judgment to determine the need for doing so, always consult your Operations Supervisor prior to boarding any private watercraft. As a reminder, EMS does not conduct any rescue in or on the water from sunset to sunrise. This guideline applies to all outside agencies with watercraft. A policy will be available in the near future.

Guy: Spoke a bout a recent response with FPFR in which he did not board their boat to be transported to the scene.

Cooke: Reminded everyone of upcoming classes:
1. Rescue Technician class in Lumberton
2. Unified Command and Control
3. Mass Casualty class in Shallotte, sponsored by Brunswick EM, March 7-9
4. New Hanover Fire School, April 22-24
5. EMS Symposium, April 1-2

Cooke: Reminded everyone that Station 31 cannot cancel EMS 500 for extrication purposes if there is an extrication/entrapment that they intend to utilize their equipment to mitigate the incident.

Fields: (1) There is a grant that has been submitted for through HRSA for additional equipment, we are waiting for the approval of it to purchase the additional equipment requested under the grant. (2) Administration is waiting for the budget to equalize before any other significant equipment is purchased.

Fields: Response times are being reviewed, and possible changes are being considered to shorten those times in the respective areas.

Cooke: Please use EMS 503 conservatively, to avoid accumulating unnecessary mileage.

Cooke: Any suggestions for capital requests need to be submitted to administration by May.
