PMH Employees of Excellence for June, July, August and September
10/15/2008
Quality is the main quality that Pender Memorial Hospital wants to be known for. That is why a focus on providing quality service is at the center of everything that happens at PMH. While all employees at the hospital focus on quality and excellent service, one outstanding employee each month is recognized specifically as the Employee of Excellence for being a shining example of the Standards of Performance at PMH. These employees embrace Ownership, Teamwork, Communication, Professionalism and Service in order to create an environment where patients seek care, employees enjoy working and physicians choose to practice.

September 2008
Charles Woodcock, Materials Management
Here's what his coworkers had to say:

Charles is a hard worker who always goes above and beyond to get the job done. He tends to stay behind the scenes so he is not often recognized for all he does. When I need help, it doesn't matter how hot it is outside or how heavy the item is, he is always willing to help me retrieve items from storage or set up meeting space. Charles also works very hard to finish projects as quickly as he can while continuing to do his normal duties in his department. Charles may be very quiet, but he pays attention to our needs and takes care of them. Charles never has a negative thing to say. He is always positive and represents Pender Memorial Hospital very well. If the hospital ever wanted a 'Poster Person' to represent the hospital standards - it could and should be Charles. He treats everyone he comes in contact with like they were his family. Charles is what Pender is all about… but that's just Charles being Charles.

August 2008
Shannon Justice, Surgical Services
Here's what her coworkers had to say:

Shannon is a self-motivated individual. She is always available to assist all members of our team including the physicians. She is eager to learn and will jump in any situation to help and learn all that she can. You will never see Shannon idle. She is pleasant and caring with our patients, patient with our surgeons and a pleasure to work with. She never fails to perform her job as a professional, and remains cool, calm and collected at all times. She is respected by her coworkers and surgeons. Shannon is every manager's dream. She is dedicated to her patients, her surgeons, her coworkers and to Pender Memorial Hospital. She has just started school in pursuit of becoming an RN and will continue to be one of the greatest assets of Surgical Services and Pender Memorial Hospital. I am proud to work with her every day.

July 2008
Alice Armstrong, Dietary Services
Here's what her coworkers had to say:

Alice Armstrong, Dietary Services, has worked at PMH for 33 years!!! Her coworkers and anyone who dines at the Pender Cafe knows how deserving of this award Ms. Alice is. She always helps with the work load and has a lot patience.

June Employee of Excellence:
Jennifer Cottle, CNA - 1 West
Here's what her coworkers had to say:

Jennifer is always willing to assist other co-workers when they need help. She has a positive attitude and consistently strives to ensure the patients are comfortable and treated with respect. She also went above and beyond her duties by volunteering to help paint the swing bed activity room. Jennifer is a joy to work with and demonstrates every standard of performance. Jennifer is a responsible employee who takes ownership and exhibits professionalism and is a team player. When discharging patients, she reminds them that they might get a survey in the mail and to please complete it and return it. She fills in for co-workers during emergencies.
