Surgical Pavilion Opens June 30

New Hanover Regional Medical Center's new Surgical Pavilion will begin seeing patients on June 30. Patients with scheduled procedures may go directly to the Surgical Pavilion on this date. It is the first major part of the $220 million dollar building plan to be completed.

The facility features 186,500 square feet dedicated to providing the best surgical care for patients in our region. The building's 26 operating rooms provide the additional space necessary for staff to use the more advanced equipment needed for laparoscopic procedures. The rooms are also flexible so any procedure can be performed in any room.

In addition, there will be 76 private surgical prep rooms, 24 post-anesthesia beds and a dedicated entrance with a large, overhanging roof to protect patients and visitors from the weather and there parking nearby. Family members may choose to wait in the patient's room or in the large family waiting area.

The Surgical Pavilion is located at the rear of New Hanover Regional Medical Center and is accessible from Savannah Court off South 17th Street.
